Voyeurism is the sexual practice of spying
on engaged intimate behaviors. In this music video voyeurism is used in able to
capture the star image of Rhianna, Rhianna is a sexual icon within the music
industry and this has been built upon by the media and how she is represented
in music videos, songs, lyrics, performances etc.. The use of camera shots are
abele to capture the right parts of her body, giving off a sexual appeal
towards the audience, for example, the close ups of lips, legs hips, this shows
the outlines and silhouettes of her body. Rather than just showing her in an
average way the camera is able to explore the different shapes of her body. But
its not only down to the camera but it is the way Rhianna performs to the
camera: touching herself in a sexual desire as she dances and always giving eye
contact as she dances and sings, this helps create a more intimate relationship
between Rhianna and her audience. By capturing Rhianna biting her lip, fingers
gives off a teasing playful desire, this creates a more realistic sexual
performance rather than her just standing there singing. Rhianna’s dancing is
key for exploiting certain body parts as she dances and touches herself her
eyes are closed and recites the lyrics ‘ hold me now’ makes the intimacy of the
relationship between Rhianna and her audience become more imaginative. While
doing this she also recites the lyrics ‘ You da one that I think about all
day.’ this corresponds and links together the music as well as the performance
of the artist. Rhianna costumes change throughout each setting of the music
video, yet all of her clothing reveals a lot of skin and complimenting her
figure to give off her sexual appeal. The mise en scenes of all settings are
simple yet give off a playful vibe by using big balls as its lets her move
around and play with the props. The
music video is edited in black and white this is done so that colour does not
take your view off Rhianna, it is a lot more easier to focus on her but also
having connotations of the audience being able to use there own imagination and
input on what colours they would want to imagine.
